Wrestling with God in Prayer

“[Jacob’s prayer] is prayer for forgiveness of sin and the removal of divine displeasure on account of sin that we here find illustrated. And in consonance with this the blessing craved and received was the blessing of pardon and a return to normal relations with God. The event taught Jacob that inheritance of the promises can rest on forgiveness of sin and a purified conscience only.” (Geerhardus Vos, Biblical Theology, pp. 113-114).

Wednesday evening’s Bible study and prayer time at Trinity Presbyterian Church, OPC, starts at 7:00 p.m. Genesis 32:22-32 is among the passages we hope to learn from.
